What is your definition of the perfect vacation?

If you could design the perfect vacation, where would you go and what would you do there?

You might choose to completely relax at a spa, beach or mountain retreat.  This is my personal favorite.  Rest quietly until you’re so relaxed you’re bored, THEN do something like move to a chaise with a different view.  Ah, what a wonderful time!

You might choose a vacation filled with the history and stories from a region, with tours and sightseeing that makes it especially real for you.  The ruins of a castle used to be someone’s home or the large, ornate church is hundreds of years older than the country I live in.  That’s pretty fascinating stuff!

What about an adventure vacation?  Rafting down a river, climbing a mountain, or a week with the Sierra Club to experience a rush of adrenaline or test your physical and mental endurance limits.  Go for the thrills and come back exhilarated!

I know some people who spend their vacation time doing charitable work in foreign countries.  My friends are talented medical professionals who enjoy helping in areas where the need is too much for the local hospitals and doctors to handle.  I can see their satisfaction on their faces, and their stories are filled with awe and wonder.

What kind of vacation type are you?  Are all your friends the same?  Could you plan a successful trip together and bring everyone home happy?  Perhaps being in each other’s company is enough for the best of friends!

We interrupt this life improvement project . . .

. . . for a vacation with friends in south central France! ...<< MORE >>

Empathy

An old friend has recently been given some bad news.  I hope it's just a rough patch and not a permanent situation. I feel really sad for him, and I could easily go a little nuts imagining what he's going through.

How do you help people who are sad, or sick or lacking in confidence they deserve to feel?  On one hand it feels like there is nothing I can do that would matter, and on the other hand everyone needs support.

If you have any advice for a great guy whose marriage may be crumbling, head over to texaninhippieland.blogspot.com/ and offer a random act of kindness to someone who is in pain.  We are all in this together!

Daily Habits

What are the things you do to take care of yourself every single day?  Think about it.  You probably brush your teeth, take a shower, put on deodorant and get dressed.  What about exercise?  Meditation?  What are the things you do for yourself every day that you really love to do and enjoy doing?

This week I am working on new habits - 10 habits I call the Dailies - that I really want to do.  I don't think of them as things I must do or should do.  I really want to nourish my body and soul with these life-enriching new habits:
  1. Journal
  2. Exercise for 30 minutes
  3. Read something inspirational
  4. Tapping (EFT)
  5. Do at least one Fun Thing from my "100 Fun Things" list, then add one more to the list
  6. Zap a toleration
  7. Contact a loved one via phone, IM or email
  8. Take a "me" break
  9. Yoga
  10. Meditation
Yesterday was Day One and I managed 6 out of 10.  Today I'm on track for the full 10.  I want to string 7 successful days together, then try for 21 more days to make one entire month of taking great care of ME!

What new habits would you like to cultivate?  Don't let a "MUST DO" sneak onto your list!

Now I begin

I have been concocting my own life for a very long time because I was never content with the status quo. I couldn't follow in anyone's footsteps because there were so many footsteps and paths to choose from, and there were exciting things about all of them. So I've been inventing my own path. And along the way I've discovered that there are other people out there who don't fit the mold, or want a new one. This blog is for you. And me. Let's see where it goes.
